Descripción:
Philadelphia: M. Carey and Son, 1819. Fourth Edition. Octavo, original blue boards with original paper label on front cover, xi, [1 blank], [9] - 248 pp. Better known as a publisher and bookseller, “[Carey] was a charter member of the Philadelphia Society for the Promotion of National Industry, most of the addresses of which came from his pen. These are recognized as the classic American argument in favor of the protective system, and for them Carey will be chiefly remembered in economic authorship. He did more than anyone else, if we except Hamilton, to found the American nationalist school of economic thought.” -DAB, p. 491. Poor; ex-library copy from the Franklin Institute Library, binding is broken, and text is now in four parts between the covers, pages 253 - 254 supplied in facsimile, many pages show shallow chipping around the perimeter not effecting the text.
