Printed wraps. 160pp illustrated line drawings, photographs. small 4to. The Samburu are located in northern Kenya. This scarce reference work is illustrated in colour. It provides an overview of the society and then details of adornments for children, moran (the youth), elders, women, ritual occasions, and also body deformation (ear piercing, skin markings such as tattoos and burn marks, tooth extraction. This book represents the first systematic collation of Samburu adornments with a meticulous outline of their contextual significance.
