First hardcover edition, published by the University Press of New England, 1999. Part of the 'Hardscrabble Books' series of books focusing on fiction of New England. Historical fiction, told in first person, this is the story of a young woman in Boston of the 1830's. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. No writing, no former ownership marks. The text is clean, the binding is tight and square. No marks to the edges of the text block. with sewn binding and mustard yellow cloth covered spine with ark green colored boards. On the edge of the back flap is a poke mark - looks like another book bumped into it and made a pencil point sized mark on that edge. This is not a remainder, not a library copy. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
