New York: D. Appleton and Company, 1854. Hardcover. Good +. Gigoux, Jean. vi, [3], 6-764 p.: frontispiece and 13 leaves of plates, all with blue tissue guards: many in-text illustrations; 22 cm. Contemporary half polished calf with marbled paper over boards. Six spine compartments between raised bands; gilt-tooled title in second compartment, and decoration in remainder of compartments. All page edges marbled with matching marbled endpapers. Engraved initial letters. Gift inscription on blank leaf following front free endpaper dated 1858. Former owner's name at head of title page: Elizabeth Fry. In Good+ Condition: front board detached but present; edges and boards are rubbed; clean and bright.
