New York: Liveright Inc, 1932. First edition. Hardcover. g- to vg+. Small quarto. 598pp. + 19 plates. Printed orange and burgundy dust jacket with lettering on the front cover and spine. Black cloth boards with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Top edge red, and pages uncut. Signed by Gertrude Atherton in black ink on the front free endpaper. This is a first edition of Atherton's autobiographical work, interleaved throughout with 19 plates of b/w photographic reproductions (including the frontispiece portrait), with photos of the author, her family and other figures and places from her life. Dust with some sunning and rubbing, as well as chipping to the head & tail of the spine. Some other light smudges and scratches. Binding with some light rubbing to extremities, and some minor abrasions/scratches to the covers along the edges. Interior with minor age toning along the edges of some pages. Original booksellers small sticker at the lower left corner of the interior back cover. Dj in good-, binding in good+, interior in very good+ condition overall.
