Novelist, essayist, and travel writer Mark Twain, pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835 - 1910) said his Preface (not included in this edition), said: "Most of the adventures recorded in this book really occurred; one or two were experiences of my own, the rest those of boys who were schoolmates of mine. Huck Finn is drawn from life; Tom Sawyer also, ... he is a combination of the characteristics of three boys who I knew". The book draws from the author's youth spent in Hannibal, Missouri, on the banks of the Mississippi.
Sinopsis
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, by Mark Twain, is a popular 1876 novel about a young boy growing up in the antebellum South on the Mississippi River in the town of St. Petersberg, based on the town of Hannibal, Missouri.
