New York: Gnome Press, 1953. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Hardback. A very good copy in light blue cloth lettered in purple on spine. Some spotting to top edge otherwise a clean copy. No ownership inscription. 223 pages. In a good dustwrapper with a couple of very minor closed tears, a very small chip at the foot of the spine and with the rear panel a little spotted. There is a superficial damp stain at the join of the rear panel with the rear inner flap but this is barely noticeable externally. Overall a very decent copy of a rather scarce early first edition. Sinopsis
Against the Fall of Night is a science fiction novel by British writer Arthur C. Clarke. Originally appearing in the November, 1948 issue of the magazine Startling Stories, it was first published in book form in 1953 by Gnome Press. It was later expanded and revised as The City and the Stars. The original also appeared in a more recent edition along with another unconnected early work: The Lion of Comarre and Against the Fall of Night.
