Sobre este artículo

New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1972. This fascinating account of the 17th Century history of the Netherlands that produced a golden age in painting is beautifully represented not only by the author's insightful text, but by the work of 77 prominent Dutch artists as seen through 178 illustrations, including 48 pages of full-color plates. The book also includes biographical sketches of all the represented artists in the rear, followed by an extensive Index. Thus, this is a book on far more that just Rembrandt and Vermeer, about whom numerous books already exist. But all 77 of these Dutch artists are placed in context to the inspiring times in which they lived that helped create such equisite work by so many. The book is bound in brown cloth with die-stamped gilt spine titles. The book is tight bound, clean and bright throughout. There is a small gift inscription on the front end paper. The price-clipped dust jacket does have several tiny chips and a few tears, repaired on the reverse with non-acidic tape. I've placed the dust jacket into an archival Brodart protective sleeve. The book measures 10 by 11 1/4 inches and includes 271 pages. Due to the book's size and five-pound shipping weight, the book is for domestic sale only, since many copies are available in the U.K. and Australia, shipping costs from the U.S. would be prohibitive. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good+. Illus. by Rembrandt, Hals, Vermeer, et al. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
