Very good, light shelf wear, corners bumped.PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY WILLIAM OSLER, "With Xmas Greetings from Wm. Osler, 1916." Charles Sayle was a poet, as well as a bibliographer and librarian at Cambridge University. Osler's encouragement is acknowledged in the preface, his "Aequanimitas" is quoted on pp. 83-84. In Cushing's life of Osler, his letter to Sayle is quoted: "I send books at Xmas to about 100 of my old students, and this year I have selected your 'Ages'..." Osler 4526. Bibliotheca Osleriana 5421.
