Sobre este artículo

Euro?pa Ko?nyvkiado?, 1973-01-01. Hardcover. Very Good. In Hungarian. 1973 first Hungarian edition Europa Konyvkiado (Budapest, Hungary), 5 5/8 x 8 1/4 inches tall brown cloth hardbound in publisher's unclipped dust jacket, black decoration to front cover and lettering to spine, 420 pp. Minor bumping to tips of book. Light staining and minor edgewear to covers. Otherwise, apart from moderate age toning to paper, a very good copy - clean and unmarked - in a lightly rubbed and edgeworn dust jacket, nicely preserved in a clear archival sleeve. A scarce edition: OCLC (No. 638097370) locates only one copy worldwide, at Zentralbibliothek Zurich, in Switzerland. ~KK~ Christ Recrucified (here renamed 'Who Must Die' in Hungarian) is a 1954 novel by Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957). The story concerns the attempts of a Greek village community to stage a Passion play. It takes place in a Greek village, Lycovrisi 'Wolf-spring,' under Ottoman rule. Bohuslav Martinu wrote an opera in four acts, also called The Greek Passion, based on the novel, with a libretto by the composer. Jules Dassin's film He Who Must Die (Celui qui doit mourir, 1957) is based on the novel. Derek Carver based his stage and BBC radio play Not to Send Peace on the novel. Author Kazantzakis was a Greek writer and philosopher, celebrated for his novel Zorba the Greek, considered his magnum opus. He became known globally after the 1964 release of the Michael Cacoyannis film Zorba the Greek, based on the novel. He gained renewed fame with the 1988 Martin Scorsese adaptation of his book The Last Temptation of Christ.
