Akron, OH: The Saalfield Publishing Company (Presumed 1st Edition, 1936). Small hardcover, 61 pages. No dust jacket, as issued. Previous owner's name and 1936 date on FFEP. Covers show heavy wear, with serious erosion to the top free corners of both covers and pages at same location--see our photos. Covers are age soiled, with wear to the edges, as well as spine edges and extremities. Endpapers and pages are toned; pages are soft. Text unmarked, with 15 fantastic illustrations of dogs by Diana Thorne. Binding is straight and text block is intact.
About the Book: TRUE DOG STORIES is a collection of short stories detailing the stories of ordinary dogs and their extraordinary exploits, written for children by the prolific author of dog-based stories, Albert Terhune.
About the Author: Albert Payson Terhune (1872 – 1942) was an American writer, dog breeder, and journalist. He was popular for his novels relating the adventures of his beloved collies and as a breeder of collies at his Sunnybank Kennels, the lines of which still exist in today's Rough Colllies.
About the Illustrator: Diana Thorne (1895–1963) was an American artist and illustrator known for her drawings of dogs.
