Why was Speer better able than his predecessors to increase production dramatically in those industries singled out for destruction by bombing? In seeking the answer, the book treats the reasons for the successes and failures of both Speer and the Allies during the strategic bombing campaign in a framework of economic institutions and political-military decisions.".
