New York: Holt Rinehart Winston, 1976. Book. Fine. Hardcover. Second Printing.. A fascinating biography of the American diplomat who was highly placed in the US Department of State, in 1948 accused by Whittaker Chambers of being a communist and fellow espionage conspirator, with much information on his family background, associates and career, the trials he underwent, the appeals, and the whole espionage and counter-espionage process in America during the 'Cold War'. Author questions and critiques the truth and motivations of all sides involved in the dispute over Hiss. A very nice copy overall, the jacket neatly encased in an acid-free Brodart plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
