Blue cloth binding with gilt sp. lettering, no obvious faults. f/piece+252, 8 further plates ex-pagination, maps to endpapers and 3 further maps, one a plate ex-pagination; no obvious faults at all being clean, tight and unmarked with good end-gutters etc., just a touch of dust to top edge; unclipped jacket in protective acetate sleeve as acquired, two slipped in 4 pp. fliers for same author's 'English Fabric'. An account and reconstruction of the 1753-4 'Canning Case' in which gypsies were accused of abducting a London servant girl and their alibi that were in the West of England at the time, the girl herself being transported for perjury and the chief of the gypsy family pardoned after being first found guilty and sentenced to death. 15 cm x 22 cm. A remarkably fine copy of this scarce work.
