Sobre este artículo
London: Macmillan & Co.. Good. 1869. First Edition; early. Hardcover. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 192 pages; 1869 Macmillan & Co. Octavo HC in original red trade cloth binding with lettering, borders and pictorial emblems in gilt and all edges gilt. Early printing "Fourteenth thousand" after the 1st (suppressed) printing issued by Appleton NY and the 1866 Macmillan London issue. Coated blue endpages, but lacking the front free blue endpage. Half-title page and tissue guard for the Tenniel frontis remain. Damp discoloration to the cover board top front and bottom spine corners, and less so to the top front corner of the rear board. Cloth with shallow chip at crown and light fray at foot; corners bumped, softened with with trace fray at tips. Binding shaken; hinges tender and a few signatures starting a little at the front edge. Internally a few weak spots between signatures. A mild damp ripple bottom edge of pages toward the rear, and here and there a mild faint damp line bottom edge. Prior ownership neatly penciled top edge of thehalf-title and title pages, partial split in the rear endpaper gutter has been reinforced with a judicious application of japanese kozo paper tape. Mild thumbing evidence and light stains to some few pages. A copy with wear, some damp soiling and a weak binding, but complete save for one endpage. Given completeness of contents and original binding, this copy is an excellent candidate for rebacking, restoration or a rebinding in buyer's preference of materials. It is offered here for a short time at this price prior to our having it rebacked and restored and offered at a higher price. G thus with all faults .
Sinopsis
Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There , tell the story of a young girl in a fantasy world filled with peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The classic tale of literary nonsense takes the reader on an exploration of logic and absurdities. The Alice books — sometimes combined or referred to with the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland — have been translated into at least 97 languages with over a hundred different editions. The books have also been adapted numerous times into films (both live-action and cartoon), plays, and musicals.
