Boards scuffed, a few leaves in the first volume rather curled, pp. 22/3 separated but present, contemporary owership signatures to both title pages, else Good or better. Contents as follows:. 1. [Susan Anne Livingston Sedgwick]. Alida; or, Town and Country. New York: Henry G. Langely, 1844. Novel of a beautiful but willful woman whose character improves when her father moves the family out to the countryside of Brookfield, Massachusetts. WRIGHT I 2373.
2. Mrs. [Catherine] Gore. Abednego the Money Lender: A Novel. New York: E. Ferrett & Co., 1845. Later edition. Lesser-known novel by the English author who achieved fame for her dandy novels. See Sadleir 1017 for the first (1843) edition, published in three volumes under the title "The Money-Lender.
