Ramsay identifies the United States with the eagle when referring to the "overshadowing wings" of Isaiah xviii. 1: "But this must answer for the prophetic description of this country; for my object is not to explain all the prophecy, but only to bring out the evidence from it that the United States of America is, indeed, the honoured country referred to. `Ho! The land of overshadowing wings'. " Not cited in Froom's The Phophetic Faith of Our Fathers or in Sabin. .
