Indianapolis, IN.: Bobbs Merrill, 1909. Classic illustrated text by one of the early 20th century most renown artists, Harrison Fisher, who was dubbed "the King of the magazine-cover illustrators". One of the most popular images in the early 20th century America were the Fisher Girls. Their beautiful faces and striking fashions adorned books, magazines and postcards everywhere, and were the subject of the works of Harrison Fisher. Nearly a century later, Harrison's artwork is in very high demand and are quite rare. Text contains Fisher's verse poems accompanied by his lavish illustrations, enclosed in attractive Art Nouveau borders decorated by E. Stetson Crawford. 20 full page color plates. Burnt sienna colored blind-stamped decorative cloth, with gold gilt. Very slight rubbing to corners and spine edges. Dustjacket in mylar; old price tag removal mark on upper corner of front cover, a few small chunks missing along edges, small closed tear on the rear cover, otherwise clean and in tact. "November" stated to copyright page. Scarce.. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Fine/Good. Illus. by . 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
