Front jacket art is striking, with some blemishing; no artist credit. Well-bound. Economy production materials.. 1 390 p. Textured, cloth-like red paper over boards. Black spine title box, red titles. "Young Moderns: A Growing Library for Modern Boys and Girls", with this anthology gleaned from Sprague Publishing's "The American Boy" periodical of the 1920s, also edited by Ellis. Recommended for older boys, readers are promised adventure, mystery, romance, conflict, quick action, and the "feel" of the sea. The voyages are never dull, the publisher notes on the front jacket flap. The back jacket lists the series, and yes, there are collections for girls. Introductory poem, then 18 stories by near as many authors.
