This is the autobiography of a physican's world-wide work for the Rockefeller Foundation. The author was the Director of the East of the International Health Board, he was stat- ioned for many years in the Philippines, Siam, Japan, Ceylon Fiji & many other Far Eastern countries. He fought cholera, small pox, beriberi, dysentery and other diseases. This is a very personal narrative, loaded with keen insights to the land & people, customs and humanism. A great primary resour- ce with commentaries on his life and work also in Borneo, India, Malaya, Java &c. Nicely written, lucid, with letters from John D. Rockefeller included. .
