London, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington. 1883. Hardback, 8.5 x 6 inches. Half bound polished red morocco leather and red cloth to boards edged in gilt. Raised banding and gilt decorations to spine. Top page edges gilt. In very good condition. Rubbing to edges of leather, corners slightly chipped and bumped. Small chip at top ends of spine. Bookplate to front endpaper “David M. Ritchie.” Some mild foxing to title page (frontis guarded) some moderated foxing to a few plates, most remain clean and bright. Pages clean and tight. Else a very good clean and tight copy. viii + 338pp. Illustrated with B&W photo frontis plate PLUS many extra engraved plates bound in (includes 2 colour lithographs, Guy’s Coll. & Windsor Castle.) The author took a four-in-hand coach, with some friends from Brighton to Inverness. This is the record of that journey. Grangerised copy with many extra plates.
