New York: Atheneum, 1974. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Octavo, 338pp., illustrated. A good, well-read copy in the publisher's navy cloth. Corners bumped, some smudges to boards, but the contents clean. This copy SIGNED and generically INSCRIBED by the Watergate convict on the front free endpaper: "Faithfully, Jeb Stuart Magruder 3/11/77." Laid-in are two printed brochures from the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, KY, where he served as a Senior Minister from 1990 (the pamphlets are from 1994). Magruder, before he found religion, was a high-level official with "CREEP" (the Committee to Re-Elect the President) when G. Gordon Liddy, John Dean, and John Mitchell developed various plans for "intelligence gathering" that culminated in the failed Watergate break-in, whose cover-up led to the downfall of Richard Nixon.
Sinopsis
An American Life is the 1990 autobiography authored by former American President Ronald Reagan. Released almost two years after President Reagan left office, the book reached number eight on The New York Times' bestsellers list.
