Crystal Palace Library, 1854. First Edition. Fair/No Jacket. Hardcover, 1854. Original full bound blue cloth boards, with elaborate designs in blind to front and rear. Title with price (3/-) in gilt to spine. General wear, with some damp marks to fore edge of front board. Fore corners bumped, with some cloth loss to lower rear. Two inch split along bottom rear joint; but binding is solid. Binding is splitting though still holding, with webbing exposed, between pages 78 and 79 in final Ninevah section. Ink inscription to inside front cover: "Miss Green / Cecil Cottage / ???"; and a pencil inscription to front free endpaper: "??? London Oct '88". Contains the following sections: 1) Pompeian Court by George Scharf 73 pps, with foldout plan map and title page with one to two inch strip missing along fore edge; 2) The Egyptian Court by Owen Jones and Joseph Bonomi 72pps; foldout two leaf plan view with foldout leaf completely separated; 3) The Alhambra Court by Owen Jones 120pps, with fold out plan map; and 4) The Nineveh Court by Austen Henry Layard 80 pps, with fold out plan view. Price reduced to reflect condition.
