Among the multitude of drawings copied by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika from global art of all periods, those representing themes from ancient Greek art have a special place. In this book, 100 or so such drawings are presented, accompanied by photographs of the original works, so that one can see how Ghika handled the archaeological material. He made drawings of statues, reliefs, wall paintings, mosaics, pottery and coins, sometimes accurately and at others more freely with the artist’s personal style.
