Translated and including notes by J.G. Lockhart. The revised and edited second edition of this work. Including six full page engraved plates with many in-text illustrations by William Allan, David Roberts, William Simson, Henry Warren, C.E. Aubrey, and William Harvey. Including four ornamental vignette pages, and a vignette title page, and numerous ornamental borders designed by Owen Jones.Collated and complete. Handsomely rebacked in full morocco, with the original leather laid down on the boards. Externally, smart, with some light bumping to the extremities and rubbing to the boards. Internally, front hinge is strained at the title page, with the title page lifting to the head. Remaining binding generally firm. Tidemarks to the heads of the ornamental vignette pages. A few instances of scattered spots to the pages, most notable to the first few pages and the plates, though many pages do remain clean. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
