Considers the life and work of Italian painter Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530). Volume I ("Text and Illustrations") is the first full-scale monograph on del Sarto since 1935. It includes illustrations of all of his authentic paintings and a selection of his drawings, as well as a brief biography. Volume II ("Catalogue Raisonne") contains a complete, detailed, critical catalogue of Andrea's paintings and drawings. Also gives an inventory of lost works, a full account of paintings and drawings attributred to Andrea, and all the documentary information available on Andrea's life. The illustrations supplement those in the first volume. Uncommon, esp. with dust jackets.
