Sobre este artículo

New York: E.P. Dutton, 1981. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound in hardcover format, generally clean, lightly toned at worst, minimal rubbing to extremities, lightly foxed page edges. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, little worn but for slight edge-wear at bottom. From the Kirkus Review review, "Angel of Light is a Washington, D.C. retelling of Aeschylus' Oresteia which tries to hook up the themes of personal betrayal and revenge with the politics of treason and terrorism. Maurice Halleck, Director of the (imaginary) Federal Commission for the Ministry of Justice, is dead in an apparent car-crash suicide following a bribery scandal (connected to investigations into the Allende affair). But Maurice's high-strung teenage daughter Kirsten is convinced that her father was murdered--for domestic and perhaps political reasons--by chic mother Isabel and her lover Nicholas Martens, Maurie's old pal and colleague at the Commission. So, fixed on a double revenge-killing, Kirsten/Electra hysterically demands active support from low-key older brother Owen." 434 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Sinopsis

Joyce Carol Oates's Angel of Light is about the Halleck family in Washington in 1980.  The father, Maurice, is found dead from an apparent suicide - but his children, Kirsten and Owen are certain that it was their mother and her new lover that did him in. This free-form book sometimes uses stream of consciousness and jumpy timelines to increase the sense of mystery and confusion as Kirsten and Owen exact any revenge they can.
