London: John C. Nimmo, 1891. A New Edition Incorporating the Author's Own Notes, Additions and Emendations. With Portrait and Twenty-four Steel and Mezzotint Engravings. Also Numerous Engravings on Wood. In Four Volumes. Two hundred and sixty-five copies of this Large Paper Edition printed for England, and one hundred and fifty for America. The engravings given in duplicate, and the initial letters and rules printed in red. Each copy is numbered and type distributed. This is copy No. 315. All volumes have speckled turquoise/brown covers with gilt imprint on front/back and tan title bar on spine. Covers have bumped and rubbed corners and edges, scuffing to faces, spine ends are torn and fraying. Ex. library with similar markings: identification numbers on lower spine, bookplate on front inside cover, library stamp on back of all plates, identification numbers and embossed stamp on illustrations page, embossed stamp on several interior pages, checkout sheet on back free endpaper, pocket envelope on back inside cover. Volume I: 1-360 pp. Volume II: 361-824 pp. Volume III: 825-1254 pp. Volume IV: 1255-1670 pages with appendix and index. Unfortunately, many plates are missing from Volumes II and III. Hinges and spine loose or broken. Chipping and browning to interior page edges. Some small tears to interior pages. Overall volumes in Good- condition.
