Charles Acton Burrows (1853-1948) was manager of the Standard Printing Company at Elora, Ontario but joined the editorial staff of the Guelph Herald the following year, becoming its editor in 1875 and managing proprietor in 1877. He sold his interest in the business to his partner in 1879 and went to Winnipeg where he worked on a number of publications. This book includes lists of settlers and civic officials as well as providing references to John Galt and the Canada Company.
