Contents are clean and in very sound condition with the exception of missing rear free endpaper. Herzfeld was a scholar of all phases of Near Eastern culture from the prehistoric period to Islamic times. Articles contributed by René Dussaud, Richard Ettinghausen, Hetty Goldman, Gisela M.A. Richter and others. Published with the support of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, in Ernst Herzfeld's memory.
