Sobre este artículo

Donington: Shaun Tyas, 2019. Book. Fine. Hardback. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Temple Moore (1856-1920) was one of the greatest British church architects of his day, designing a series of fine and varied buildings between about 1890 and the First World War. A devout High Churchman, he worked primarily for Anglo-Catholic clients who sought to express their faith in beautiful buildings suitable for liturgical settings. Like his mentor, George Gilbert Scott junior, Moore turned away from the extravagancies of the Victorian Gothic Revival and developed an architecture that depended, not on lavish ornament and colour, but on line and proportion. He carried out a number of significant secular works as well, many of them of considerable distinction. With the aid of specially-taken new colour photographs and specially-drawn distribution maps (there are 199 illustrations), this book is a must-have supplement to the author's earlier book (also published by Shaun Tyas), which had been printed in black and white. The colour now shows the sheer quality and range of Moore's output. The book is divided into chapters on his family background, influences, church architecture, church restorations, church furnishings, houses and schools and a Conclusion, appendices (testimonials and list of works), notes and index..
