London: Luke Hansard & Sons. Fair with no dust jacket. 1812. Second Edition. Hardcover. Xxxii, 344 pp + [4] 499 [1] pp. Two volumes, complete, library bound in dark grey-green buckram with gilt to the spines. Half title in first volume, OCLC 52438603. Spine tips have a bit of wear but bindings generally handsome, interior normal library marks including pockets. Renewed endpapers and both free front endpapers are cracking at gutter. Vol. I half title has old tape repair, title page has some short tears, and chipping at edges, page 83 has some old repairs to the page not affecting text, some foxing throughout but otherwise clean. Vol. II is missing half title, free endpapers are cracking at gutter, title page has old stain in the margin along with library marks, last page of index has corner chipped off. A bit fragile but still whole, bindings presentable if utilitarian, still quite usable. This is the 2nd edition which was prepared by Daniel Twining. Thomas Twining was an English classics scholar, grandson of the tea merchant, His reputation as a scholar was made with this translation of Artistotle's Poetics. ; Ex-Library; 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall .
