Catalogue for the loan exhibtion organized by the Center for African Art which presents 160 objects of art and ethnography selected from three anthropology museums founded in the 1860s: Buffalo Museum of Science, the Hampton University Museum (Virginia), and the American Museum of Natural History (New York City). The exhibit asks questions about the aesthetic and ethical challenges of the classifications of both African and modern art objects. Exhibition appeared at the Buffalo Museum of Science, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Henry Art Gallery of the University of Washington, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Carnegie Institute, and the Denver Museum of Natural History.
