Illustrated by Borders Initial Letters, with an engraved title page and 93 chromolithograph plates. Lacking plates LXVI, and LXXXI. A comprehensive guide to the art of illuminating, including details on the history and creative process. Alphabets selected by W. R. Tymms, the nineteenth century technician, artist and designer. With an essay and instructions by Matthew Digby Wyatt. Wyatt was a renowned British architect and art historian, and the first Slade Professor of Fine Art at the University of Cambridge. In full crushed morocco binding by Baker & Son. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities. Marks and chipping to the spine. Light marks to the boards and free endpapers. Internally, lacking plates LXVI and LXXXI, but otherwise firmly bound. Pages lightly age-toned but generally bright and clean. Spotting to the engraved title page. Handling marks throughout, heavier to the reverse of the plates. Two small closed tears to the edge of plate XIX. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
