NOTE to First Edition collectors: watch out for reprints published by Harry Abrams/Abradale with a 1980 copyright but published later (in 1984), same ISBN, but lacking Sendak's Red Riding Hood pop-up and the tipped-in 7 small paper sheets of color art for "Where the wild horses are" at p. 81 (not present in later editions). Fine condition in a Near Fine dust jacket (only very lightly rubbed). NO chips. NO tears. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. Pages are crisp, clean and unmarked. Profusely illustrated with 261 illustrations, 94 in full color. Bound in the original pictorial cloth, stamped in bright gold on the spine. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole.
