Scotland-born author lectured in Classics at Oxford and then came to Columbis University, NY where he was Anthon Professor of Latin Language and Literature. He was awarded a 1950 Guggenheim Fellowship to do a study on Juvenal. Attractively designed black cloth boards. White-out used on ffep. Uneven topstain.
