Sobre este artículo

COLFER, Eoin. Artemis Fowl. NY: Hyperion [2001]. 8vo, [iv] 279pp. Color pictorial paper wrappers. A fine, as new, copy. Inscribed by the author, Eoin Colfer, to Peter Glassman, founder of Books of Wonder.

Advance Reading Copy. The first book in Eoin Colfer's NY Times Best-selling Artemis Fowl series. Twelve-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl has discovered a world below ground of armed and dangerous – and extremely high-tech – fairies. He kidnaps one of them, Holly Short, and holds her for ransom in an effort to restore his family's fortune. But he may have underestimated the fairies' powers. Is he about to trigger a cross-species war? The basis for the recent Disney Studio film and the first of eight novels about Artemis Fowl and Holly Short.

Sinopsis

Twelve-year-old villain, Artemis Fowl, is the most ingenious criminal mastermind in history. His bold and daring plan is to hold a leprechaun to ransom. But he's taking on more than he bargained for when he kidnaps Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance Unit). For a start, leprechaun technology is more advanced than our own. Add to that the fact that Holly is a true heroine and that her senior officer Commander Root will stop at nothing to get her back and you've got the mother of all sieges brewing!

I love the Artemis Fowl series! It is very refreshing and unique. It is definitely going down as #1 on my list of favorite classics. I especially love the great realism in the stories. Totally an awesome must-read!!!

Enjoyable even as an adult. This is a modern fantasy book about a genius pre-teen boy and his exploits to break the written language of the Fairies. Although his intentions are somewhat evil by admission, his actions clearly indicate that he has a good side yearning to come out.
