Phelan was an American clergyman and author. Born in the late 19th or early 20th century, Phelan pursued a career in the clergy, dedicating his life to serving his congregation and community. Although not an autobiography, Arthur Lee, draws on Phelan's own experiences and insights, and provides a detailed portrayal of the challenges and triumphs faced by those in clerical roles at the turn of the century and early 1900's. The book provides an intimate portrayal of the daily experiences and spiritual struggles that come with a clerical career, highlighting Arthur's interactions with his congregation, colleagues, and the broader community.
