Sobre este artículo

Oxford: at the Clarendon press, 1937     ¶ FIRST EDITION of the first serious study of Rimbaud's career in East Africa 1881-91  =  ÉDITION ORIGINALE de la première étude sérieuse sur Rimbaud en Afrique de l'Est 1881-91; notable especially for Starkie's discovery of unpublished documents in the Foreign Office (London) suggesting that Rimbaud had been involved in the slave-trade -- a question still hotly debated today, eg by Petitfils (1984) 84n, Robb (2000) 390-92. Bibliography, pages [154]-155; index of names, [157]-158.  This is an unusually attractive copy, nicely preserved in its original dust-jacket and VERY SCARCE in such condition. (Series: Oxford studies in modern languages and literature.)   ||| Collation: 222 x 138 mm: 84 leaves, paginated [i-v] vi [vii-viii], [1] 2-158 [159-160].  Illustration: Full-page map.  Binding: Publisher's oxford-blue cloth lettered in gilt, plain wove endpapers, no headbands, top- and foredges trimmed, tail-edges untrimmed; as issued. Printed DUST-JACKET, price clipped.  Condition: Unfoxed, dust-jacket somewhat worn, withal a very good copy.  References: Petitfils (1949) 185n; Petitfils (1984) 84n (une "contribution capitale"). Not in BN/Briet (1954) or SMSU/St Aubyn (1986).  ||| For further details please contact Jay Dillon  Rare Books + Manuscripts, as below.  =  Pour plus de détails, veuillez contacter Jay Dillon  Rare Books + Manuscripts, comme ci-dessous.  .

Sobre Jay Dillon Rare Books + Manuscripts

Jay Dillon Rare Books + Manuscripts is a private, research-intensive rare-book dealer of forty years' experience in and around New York, specialized in exceptional books, manuscripts, and cultural property. Jay Dillon has been responsible for selling or appraising more than $100 million worth of books and manuscripts spanning some three thousand years. In 1989 Jay Dillon was the editor and principal author of a richly annotated catalogue that was hailed in the English press as one of the ten best books -- of any kind -- published that year. In 1994 he was invited to narrate the Discovery Channel program on the history of monopoly; and four years later he was consulted by the Zapruder family in connection with their famous film of the assassination of President Kennedy -- which, as it turned out, Mr Dillon valued more accurately than any other appraiser. The firm maintains a wide and productive network of relationships both among private collectors and in the trade; and we are currently engaged in building a number of outstanding private collections for our clients. Books and manuscripts offered to the public are mainly duplicates from our clients' libraries, or otherwise surplus to their needs. Our appraisal services include formal appraisals for insurance, estate-settlement, and tax purposes. For details please contact Dillonbook@AOL.com.
