Folio, oversize HC in original pebbled brown cloth boards with titles brightly in gilt to upper board, framed by decorative vignette ruling in blind. Professionally rebacked and cornered with high quality heavy red cloth, presumably done 1950-1960; modern red leather title label to spine. Refreshed endpages. With 17 double-page hand-colored maps, 1 full-page hand-colored map. Contents exceptionally bright and fresh with just a few tiny closed thumbing tears in lower margins of a few map plate pages. Mild sunning to vloth at board edges. With exceptional detail regarding city property owners, types of structures, business names and building dimensions, locations of sewer, water and fire plugs etc. - this Atlas is the sine qua non of references for Lancaster City development and history.
