Aurora, Texas: The Town That Might Have Been

Aurora is in Wise County, Texas, just north of Ft Worth. In 1889 it almost disappeared. Spotted fever, boll weevils and the train didn't come through. However, in 1897 an alien spaceship allegedly crashed into a windmill, and they say the dead alien pilot was buried in the Aurora cemetery. There has been much controversy about that incident. The book is in near fine condition, there is a little stain on the page edges. There is a previous owners name is on the inside of the first free end paper. There is a drawing of the alien spaceship approaching the windmill on the front endpapers. The back-end papers have a drawing of farmers inspecting the alien spaceship wreckage. Laid in is a letter signed by the author. The typed letter is written to Mr. Oates (the owners name written in the book is Odie Oates). The letter concerns some genealogical inquiries and information about who is buried in what cemetery. At the end of the letter is a handwritten note about a cemetery dedication. The letter is dated May 11, 1975 and is signed by Etta Pegues.
