Frederic Shoberl was an English journalist who, in addition to his famous translation of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame, created illustrations for a desirable travel and geography collection. 'The World in Miniature' was such a popular success that it propelled him to publish more thorough and detailed accounts of various nations. Beginning in 1828, Shoberl published works on Persia, Austria, and Turkey.
