"Merle Armitage has made a major contribution to contemporary typography and design. His bold approach is solidly based on the fundamental premise that design is a medium of communication. His books have been honored by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Rounce and Coffin Club, and by various universities and libraries. His titles for MGM pictures set new standards in the industry, and many authorities including Bruce Rogers believe is the he is the greatest contemporary designer. Merle Armitage has design fifty books, each an exciting example of text fused with typography. His restyling of Look Magazine has the arrested the attention of the entire periodical world. All fifty of Merle Armitage's books, plus considerable design miscellany, will be included in the Lilienfeld Gallery exhibition."

Letter folded for mailing, slightly toned, otherwise Fine. Exhibition notice lightly tanned mostly in the margins, with shallow soft creasing, otherwise Very Good or better.

Richard Archer, who was the "supervising bibliographer at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, UCLA; established the Hippogryph Press, ca. 1953; & later became Rare Books Librarian and Custodian of the Chapin Library at Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts" (~SNAC Cooperative), Armitage sends a "note of greeting en route."
