197The Complete Opera Book is a very interesting and comprehensive book of operas illustrated with sixty three portraits, besides many lyrical and musical notation excerpts. There are very minor indications of wear in this book and no markings. The binding is very slightly discolored from exposure compared to the rest of the cover. I have been unable to find another copy of the 1937 version.

Although often remembered as one of the blacklisted Hollywood Ten, John Howard Lawson (1894-1977) was also a co-creator of the Screen Actor's Guild and a prolific play and screenwriter. This rare book on the theory and technique of playwriting has become a classic for those writers interested in how to structure and create convincing, well-rounded, balanced characters, within a theatrical framework. Originally published in 1936, this is a Third Impression. The book is in clean, Very Good+ condition. The original Norwegian edition is very rare and OCLC locates one copy in Munich. Early translations into Swedish and Danish are uncommon. This play was a major factor in bringing Snorri's name before the Norwegian public. It was the first published Swedish tragedy that swept the nation and was quickly translated throughout Northern Europe and led to the publications of the great Norse legends in multi-volume sets. A scarce item in very good condition in original wrappers.
