A two-volume illustrated Roman history and travelogue.penned by American author Francis Marion Crawford (1854-1909). Enhanced by many uncredited line drawings and photogravures. Both volumes are signed on the first pages by previous owner Pittsburgh millionaire Duncan Clinch Phillips (1838-1917), whose art and library holdings established The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., after his death.
