Sobre este artículo

MP3 Audio CD. When Herbert Wrayson, a sociable 32 year-old gentleman witnesses the crime of his neighbor, everyone at his club quickly becomes interested in the case ? from various other members, to a very curious attorney. However, the arrival into his life of Louise, a mysterious and beautiful young woman who is incidentally the daughter of one of Wrayson's good friends, turns everything on its head, and leads to a less common story about love and mystery that will fascinate you from beginning to end.

The story finds Herbert Wrayson a curious bachelor who becomes extremely interested in Louise. However, a veil of obscure secrets surrounds the young lady, and soon leads the young man to believe something is deeply amiss. One of Edward Phillips Oppenheim's most well-written and elegant mysteries, The Avenger is filled with unlikely happenings that you might need to re-read just to be certain they actually occurred.

The author is definitely in his element in this novel that blends an unpredictable plot with likable characters that you will closely relate to. The almost taunting nature of the mystery, along with the elegant historical romance feel of the novel will blend together to provide a truly enjoyable reading experience.

With places such as the guarded chateau in France, where Wrayson discovers Louise to live in hiding, as well as Oppenheim's delectable descriptions and uncanny ability to mix narrative elements with said descriptions in a most impressive manner, there will never be a dull moment while reading this book.

Even readers who are too young to remember times when books such as The Avenger used to be in vogue can relate to this interesting and, at times impressive mystery romance. Also, fans of Oppenheim's works will be delighted to find the book to be one of his most carefully woven and overall impressive stories as well.

Sinopsis

The man and the woman stood facing one another, although in the uncertain firelight which alone illuminated the room neither could see much save the outline of the other's form. The woman stood at the further end of the apartment by the side of the desk - his desk. The slim trembling fingers of one hand rested lightly upon it, the other was hanging by her side, nervously crumpling up the glove which she had only taken off a few minutes before.
