Paris: Auguste Delatre, 1867. Single sheet.. Very Good. (Delteil 24, Harris 25iii) Spanish title is Dios se lo Pague a Usted.(May God Repay You); Dry point on laid paper with the watermark Hallindies. Printed from the original plate as published by Auguste Delatre in ‘Gazette de Beaux Arts’, Paris 1867. With the title and publisher now etched onto the plate. The sheet is cut at a slight angle with the Delatre text just touching the margins; there is a small spot within the image which is a tiny stain; verso has overall browning and there is an old mount stain visible. Image size: 176x213mm; Sheet size 180 x 268mm The plate was made circa 1810. It appears that this is the first published edition of the plate, 1864. Only a few proofs were ever printed for his own use. Goya did not publish all of his work, occasionally leaving etched plates aside. The plate was used for a later printing/publication.

A very good impression on antique laid paper with a eagle and snake watermark. My conservator suggested this was 17th century paper.There was light foxing near the number which has been cleaned. (See photo with watermark) Signed and numbered in ink. "The south bank of the Thames, at Bermondsey round the curve of the muddy shore, barges are lying under warehouses. In the foreground, four men are repairing a barge, while another stands on the deck, working a pump." (Hardie). Bermondsey Plate size 213 x 160mm (6.25 x 8.5 inches); Sheet size 270 x 180mm (10.5 x 7.5 inches approx)
