Sobre este artículo
London: Hodson & Son, 1860. [2],iv,[2],[5]-242pp. plus two engraved plates; 237,[1]pp. plus one plate and one folding map. 16mo. Publisher's red cloth, stamped in blind and gilt, spine gilt. Light shelf wear, a.e.g. Front hinge tender, contemporary ownership inscription on front flyleaf. Very minor scattered foxing. Very good. Later edition after the first of 1836. The first part is a collection of letters, written mainly to the author's mother, describing her new life as a settler in Canada. She reports the journey from Britain, Indian relations, a frightening outbreak of cholera, and the natural landscape, among other topics. A touchingly sincere account of the author's transition into her new life in rural Canada.
Traill's work is bound as issued with the second, expanded edition of Nicolay's OREGON TERRITORY..., in which he "describes in detail the early settlement of the Pacific Northwest and the rise and development of the fur trade. He takes freely from the printed primary sources, such as Ross Cox, Fremont, and others" - Wagner-Camp. HOWES N151. SABIN 96441 (ref), 55251. WAGNER-CAMP 112C:1
