Cambridge and London: Macmillan and Co., 1865. [Philosophy] FINELY BOUND, the third edition thus. Small octavo (17 x 12cm), pp.[2] xxxii; 388 [2]. In a later binding of brown full morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and gilt and blind decoration to boards, dated August 1930 in pencil to first blank. Top edge gilt, with patterned endpapers. A touch of light spotting to first and final leaves, otherwise crisp and clean internally. Some rubbing to joints. Very good. A classic selection of pithy philosophic essays by the father of modern scientific empiricism.
