Beige coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. A series of poems by this author illustrated by Hugh Thomson published in 1892. This book is one of a limited edition of 450 copies – 250 copies for England, and, 200 copies for America ('The Large Paper Edition'), of which this is number 120. Inserted loosely into a book is a small pamphlet advertising further works from the author. This book has been rebound. Softening and chipping to the top back strip edge with softening of lower back strip edge. Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co.. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1892. First Edition. Cloth. B/w; Laid in neatly written folded note dated 1887 and signed by Dobson. Gilt decorated maroon cloth. He was born at Plymouth, the eldest son of George Clarisse Dobson, a civil engineer, of French descent. When he was about eight, the family moved to Holyhead, and his first school was at Beaumaris in Anglesey. He was later educated at Coventry, and the Gymnase, Strasbourg. He returned at the age of sixteen with the intention of becoming a civil engineer. (His younger brother James would in fact become a noted engineer, helping complete the Buenos Aires harbour works in the 1880s and 1890s. ) .
